How to Spot a Lame Tech Blogger: The Map Test

via 1938 NEWS

So far today I've read several self appointed experts who claim that the map fiasco is pretty much the end of Apple. In the meantime Apple stock is about $700 a share which is higher than it ever was before and they're selling iPhones like they're giving them away for free.

Are the maps really that bad? Well I've actually tried them and they work just fine. Are they the best they can be? No. Is anyone buying an iPhone just for the maps? Nope. Will Apple improve the maps? Of course. Of course any tech blogger with any brain power would know that Apple is doing this so they won't have to depend on Google. And of course Google is the company behind Android.

In fact I suspect that it's not Apple that's dead, but the sad world of tech blogging. Thanks to high quality sites like The Verge nobody cares about lame opinion linkbait anymore. And thanks to Techmeme and Twitter we don't need blogs to keep up with breaking news. And even yes sadly that now Steve Jobs is dead it seems that Apple isn't into secrecy as much as they use to be, so that kills the potential for tech bloggers to play endless guessing games. Add to that the fact that the golden age of web 2.0 seems to be behind us and there isn't much of a future for fanzine writers.
