Welcome to ‘Awake Dating’: The Dating Site for Conspiracy Theorists

Whether you’re looking to find love for your furry best friend or trying to find The One for yourself, there seems to be a niche dating site for everyone these days. Now, even conspiracy theorists have a weird little pocket of the internet carved out for them where they can swap their most radical ideas over a romantic candlelit dinner.
That’s right: Awake Dating is here.
According to the dating site, Awake Dating is a website for individuals who have “‘woken’ from the fantastic false dream carefully crafted for the ‘consumer’.” More specifically, individuals who are “awake” (not to be confused with “woke”), believe that the world’s leaders or other large organizations are secretly responsible for a majority of the world’s issues, whether they are terrorist attacks or ecological blights.
But Jarrod Fidden, the site’s COO, isn’t fond of the phrase “conspiracy theorist,” as he thinks it has negative associations. Instead, he prefers the term “early adopter of inconvenient truths.”
“My wife and I were lucky to ‘wake up’ together some two odd years ago,” he writes in an email. “To find an awake partner to share your interests with — That is a true blessing. So Awake Dating was born as a premium platform for discussion, networking, and meeting others who share their interests and view of ‘reality.'”
While many contested the site’s legitimacy, the hoax debunking site, Snopes.com, confirmed its existence, and Fidden has confirmed its existence via interviews with various media outlets. There are currently 4.49 billion web pages on the internet, but this is certainly the first of its kind.
And so far, Fidden reports that the site has had plenty of positive feedback.

digital love

“From simple messages of users saying thank you, to long paragraphs of writing saying thank you in one way or another,” he said in an interview with Vice UK. “…The fringe communities are disenfranchised by the current offerings in online communications so we are hoping to step in to offer an alternative.”
